At this time I am not taking new clients. Please DO NOT fill this form out without me asking you to do so.
What I provide:
Holistic hoofcare to the best of my ability each and every time for each hoof of each equine!
Maintenace trimming, glue ons, transitioning from shoes to barefoot, booting help, hoof casting.
Communication and scheduling the next trim at the end of each visit. Let’s keep your equine on schedule. I’ll also send you a reminder text the day before an appointment.
Considerate, caring hoofcare - I will talk to you about diet, movement, potentially suggest you talk to your vet about bloodwork for PPID or insulin resistance or reach out to a bodyworker to help your horse with issues higher up. I may also request radiographs be taken.
To give your horse or donkey the best hooves I can - often (pretty much always) requires appropriate nutrition, movement, footing and friends.
Availability to answer questions, review photos, attend a veterinarian or bodyworker appointment or talk to them about what I am seeing in the hooves and learn what they are seeing higher up. I think the most successful “rehabs” occur when everyone is working together for the equine.
Lessons on rasping to stay ahead of long toes and an older rasp that will do the trick! You can become a critical part of your equine’s hoofcare maintenance and be a huge help!.
Before and after photos for first trim and periodically to track changes as needed. These can be helpful references.
Thrush treatment applied/charged for as needed, arti-mud or field paste application post trim, and guidance on hoofcare routines for keeping them thrush-free. I generally have Arti-Mud and some other Red Horse products available for purchase so you can easily add these to your routine.
What I ask from owners:
Openness- I am not an expert in anything but I am working hard to learn to do better and help more equines. Please be open to my suggestions and research more as needed and know it comes from wanting the best hooves and overall health for your equine.
A well-behaved equine doing their best - I am happy to work with sensitive equines lacking in confidence or with those needing special handling due to pain etc. I am unable to work on equines who are not safe for hoof handling or most horses requiring sedation. I can recommend training resources and trainers if needed though - it takes time! I can come out to meet your equine and see how they feel about working with me, even if I just pick their hooves or give out some love and scratches. If you cannot consistently hold your horse’s hooves up for a minute and fiddle with them, likely they are not ready for trimming. Donkeys who generally need sedation for trimming are most welcome and I like to see if they would consider a trim without sedation. Often they are happy to comply.
A safe work environment free of potentially dangerous distractions for your horse or me - this means dogs and young kiddos should be kept out of the immediate work area. I do my best work on dry, flat ground in good light. I’m happy to trim in the paddock or pasture if your equine is more comfortable there - weather permitting. Shade, protection from the elements and calm are needed weather and equine dependent. I love trimming among a group of donkeys and will let you know if we need to make changes for everyone’s safety. This work takes a lot of consideration and thought - so I’ll let you know if I can’t chat at that moment.
Attentive handler. If the equine needs a handler, please make sure you’re not distracted either - by cell phones etc.
Payment at time of service (Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, Cash, Check). My service charges are clearly outlined on this site under “services”. Please familiarize yourself with prices. I trim for several rescues and organizations at a non-profit rate but am not able to discount otherwise.
Communication: please let me know if your horse is sore (they should never be!) after a trim or you notice them feeling better or anything in the middle. It helps me to help them to know. Also please let me know of changes to feed, routine, residence, recent vaccinations etc. at trim time.
Schedule: It takes a lot (often) to reschedule but I am happy to do so if needed - it could result in your horse falling out of rotation but I do my best to keep some flexibility for weather cancellations. As much notice as possible please. Repeated or last minute cancellations without due cause may incur a partial or full charge.
If I sound like a good addition to your equine’s team, please help me by giving me some information below prior to the first trim/meeting in the form below. If you have multiple horses, please list them all on the same form. If you just have some questions and would like to contact me, please feel free to reach out. I will do my best to get back to you in a timely manner.
I consider submission of the form below to mean you have read, understand and agree to the information on this page.
